February 2011 - Voluntary work in the community for Oli Smith
Oli from our Customer Services department has been involved in football coaching for Sporting Futures for the past two years after being on the receiving end of some coaching during his school days. The coaching is provided free of charge to youngsters in areas around Derbyshire. “I am a keen footballer and I enjoy coaching others. I attended sessions as a youngster and got a lot out of it, the coaches were people I looked up to and aspired to emulate. I work with 11 to 16 year olds and 16 to 19 year olds and hold the Community Sports Leader Award which allows me to lead sessions for children with mixed disabilities and my FA Level 1 coaching certificate covered emergency first aid and child protection.” Said Oli.
Next month Oli will undertake the Higher Sports Leader Award allowing him to lead sessions as opposed to being 2nd coach and he will also complete the last two remaining levels out of three already achieved in order to gain a Coach Mark Award.
Well done Oli and we wish you well for your coaching future!

August 2010 - Sarah’s Treetops Triathlon
Our Accounts Clerk Sarah Pile recently completed the Erewash Novice Triathlon to raise funds for Treetops Hospice, our designated charity. The event is now in its fourth year with 400 athletes taking part in a 400 metre swim, 10 mile cycle ride and a 5K run. The whole event centred around the West Park Leisure Centre in Long Eaton, Nottingham; with a dip in the pool, a cycle ride around the streets of Long Eaton and then two laps around a section of the 100 acre parkland.
Sarah started her training last year, not long after the birth of her second child and remained committed to her training programme throughout the long and dismal winter. The athletes set off in a staggered start (400 people in the swimming pool at the same time would have been chaotic!) in what was a beautiful sunny day. She came in with a very creditable time of 1 hour 24 minutes, coming 241st in the novice section and raised £290.00 For Treetops. Sarah has vowed to take part in another event very soon but for now, she’s taking a well earned break from training...
Last year’s event raised over £11,000 and although the final total has yet to be announced for this year’s event, it is hoped that this total will be beaten.
June 2010 - The Moon Walk
April 2010 - Lucy
Savory Joins Us
We are pleased to announce the arrival of Lucy Savory who joins us from a printing company in Portsmouth. Lucy has been appointed as Office Manager but with an active account manager role. As the company is expanding and with the arrival of two further trainees, we realised that we needed an experienced person in position to not only boost the numbers in order for us to continue to provide a rapid response time to enquiries and take responsibility for key accounts but also to act as a mentor to the trainees to ensure they are progressing well and working in accordance with the Quality Management System at all times.
Lucy went into the print industry as a graduate trainee after graduating from Staffordshire University eight years ago and latterly held the role as Account Manager. She is now living back in Nottingham, her home town with her partner and 16 month old daughter Charlotte and is looking forward to getting back into the sporting social scene in Nottingham. Lucy describes herself as ‘loving a good competition’. She also enjoys family time and having a good night out with the girls!
April 2010 - Oliver Smith Joins Us
Oliver Smith joined us on 6th April this year; coming from a role a Customer Service Adviser for a local motor vehicle distributor. To his credit,
Oliver also worked on Saturdays during this time as a Sales Assistant
for a major sports equipment retailer.
As Oliver hasn’t had any previous experience in the print industry,
he joins us in a trainee Customer Services role but he’s learning fast!
Oliver will soon commence an NVQ level 2 in Business Studies & Administration
which he will undertake during the working week here at Accent Print.
April 2010 - Easter Egg Hunt
Our Managing Director took his family to Treetops Hospice in Risley,
Derbyshire which is just a few mile away from us, to make a donation
of 40 Easter eggs for the hospice’s annual egg hunt which took place
in the grounds of the hospice. The eggs are used for the
Chocolate Heaven Tombola which goes down a storm apparently.
The children go off to find hard boiled eggs in the ground which are ‘swapped’ for a goody bag of sweets and chocolate.
There are two raffles to allow them to win bigger eggs.
Luckily it was a fabulous sunny day and everyone – young and slightly older – had a great time and managed to raise over £1,500 in the process.
Take a look at the Treetops link below.

February 2009 - Morgana Documaster And Square Backed Booklets
It’s been a year now since we invested in the Morgana Documaster system, a completely automated, multi-functional digital finishing system that feeds pre-collated sheets, then creases, folds and staples the sheets to form a finished booklet all in one pass. The final part of the process is to Square Back the booklet, which ensures the booklet is completely flat regardless of the number of pages within the publication. The square back system gives booklets a perfect bound appearance.
